  • Yes, they are all unheated and not treated in any way for enhancement. All are Central Queensland sapphires or Australian zircons. We supply a provenance certificate for each and every stone so that you know where and when it was mined and the specific gem details.

  • Once payment is received, gems are sent via Registered Australia Post within 48 hours, tracked and signature required on receipt.

    Typically, gems are received within 3-5 business days of payment. We will provide you with the tracking information.

  • We try our very best to represent the gem through photos & videos as they would appear in natural light (not direct sunlight) in your hand.

  • If you're not totally happy with your purchase, the gem can be returned within 3 working days of receipt, in same condition, for a full refund. Return trackable registered postage to be paid by purchaser.

  • Yes, we do try to remove photos of sold stones and replace them with available stones as soon as possible.

  • A gem cutter will always try to either remove or enhance natural imperfections in an Australian sapphire but they are common and uniquely both authenticate a natural gem, and can add to their individuality and beauty.

    Typical examples include silk or a cloudiness through colour change, banding or striations.

    The term "eye clean" means that these types of naturally occurring particles are not visible to the naked eye but they may be visible under magnification.

  • Australian sapphires are made of crystalline aluminium oxide, also known as Corundum and are created from volcanic activity. Trace elements such as iron or titanium contribute to their colouring. Estimated to have been formed 66 million years ago, they were first discovered and mined in Australia in 1851 by gold miners in NSW and the Queensland fields were discovered and developed in 1873.

    Australian Sapphires rate at 9 on the Mohs scale of hardness, second only to diamonds and they typically have a heavy specific gravity of 3.9-4 times.

    There are 2 predominant sapphire mining regions in Australia, The Central Queensland gem fields located near the townships of Anakie, Sapphire & Rubyvale, west of Emerald and The New England district in New South Wales around Inverell & Glen Innes.

    Some commercial mining operations continue in those areas however it is more common to see gems produced from small scale hand mining claims in the domestic gem market.
